The 2019/20 Baseball WA State League 1 regular season came to an end last week, with the Wanneroo Giants, Morley Eagles, Braves, South Perth Cubs and Carine Cats booking their ticket to the postseason after locking up spots in the competition’s top five.
Wanneroo claimed the minor premiership, while Carine snuck into the Wildcard game after claiming a pair of wins in Week 20. Baseball WA is pleased to announce that Daniel Schmidt will coach the Junior League Tiger Academy Team.
Daniel is a current member of the Australian National Team and has played for the Perth Heat for the last 13 years. Daniel was also a professional pitcher signing and playing in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Daniel is excited to extend his knowledge to the Junior League Tiger Academy Team. Good luck to all players taking the field for semi-finals in Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Big League!
Swan Districts Swans 5-0 Gosnells Hawks
W: Dillon Clarkson (4-9), L: Josh Silvi (4-4) Dillon Clarkson pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Swan Districts Swans to a 5-0 win over the Gosnells Hawks to open the Week 19 proceedings. Clarkson was on song all afternoon as he stifled the Hawks bats – limiting them to just four team hits to collect the win. The starter was well-supported by his offence, as Mitch Scofield homered in the first inning to set up the victory. Gosnells made four errors in the field as Josh Silvi was tagged with the loss. |
