Baseball WA is set to receive $450,000 in government funding to upgrade the Baseball Park, with the funding available earlier than anticipated.
This news follows the Western Australian Government’s announcement on Sunday that it was bringing forward $4.65 million in infrastructure funding to assist State Sporting Associations (SSAs) in maintaining their assets such as grounds and buildings. Normally, $2 million a year of government funding is allocated under the State Sporting Infrastructure Fund, but the Government has transitioned to a three-year funding model. This will allow Baseball WA and other SSAs to meet all current facility operating costs, ensure buildings and grounds are prepared as COVID-19 restrictions ease, and pursue larger maintenance and capital works projects detailed in asset maintenance plans. Baseball WA welcomes this funding to enable baseball park projects and ensure a brighter future for baseball in the state. “The $450,000 in government funding will go a long way as we look to continue our ballpark renovations and enhance the environment for players and supporters,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. “We made many improvements in 2019 and we are eager to keep up with this process. As we move out of COVID-19 restrictions and return to the sport we love, we want to focus on the future and creating amazing experiences for training, game-day, representative events and more.” “This funding will also be used to make the Ballpark more self-sufficient. We want to continue to further diversify revenue streams and ensure we can maintain our member fees while still covering the Ballpark operational costs,” Dale said. “Our members are our priority and ensuring that playing the sport is affordable and providing value so we continue to explore these opportunities moving forward.” Click HERE to read the full media release from the WA Government.
