PROGRAM GOALS: Develop tournament pathway options for players younger than Little League age. Further enhance the player pathway to supplement the opportunities within Tee-ball. To provide aspirational opportunities to clubs and assist in development, player retention and growth of their membership.
AGE GROUPS MUSTANG (Under 11) – League age 7 through 10 MUSTANG-9 (Under 10) – League age 7 through 9 Age cutoff-date for eligibility is 30 April 2023. All regular season activity shall continue to be through the existing Tee-ball and Little League competition structures.
TOURNAMENT (9 to 12 January, 2023) Mustang and Mustang-9 state tournaments shall be conducted in the January school holidays All teams shall be club based (regional areas may submit association teams) Clubs may have more than one team Clubs must be affiliated with Baseball WA and/or TBAWA Tee-ball and Baseball clubs that have an active TB-BB Working Agreement may field a combined team – no other combination shall be considered Tams must supply their own scorer and umpire (umpires will be allocated to games on a roster of neutral games) Entry Fee is $33 per player
The highest-ranking teams in both age divisions at the end of the tournament shall qualify for the Asia Pacific zone tournaments – there will be up to four positions available for each age division (to be confirmed each season) – participation in the Asia Pacific zone tournaments is optional – APZ travel is self-funded – teams also need to consider that the regional champion qualifies for the World Series in the US (also self-funded) APZ tournament - Philippines mid/late April 2023. Maximum tournament fee is USD$100 per person per day which includes all meals, accommodation and ground transport.
The state tournament rules of Little League Division 2 shall apply subject to additional variations (TBD). The APZ / international tournaments will have their own rule book.
