The South Perth Cubs continued their hot start to the 2019 season, racking up an impressive 19 team hits to down the Carine Cats 17-7 on Sunday.

Max Wheeler led the Cubs’ offensive, going 5-5 with three runs and a pair of RBIs, while three other South Perth players also had multi-hit games.

On the mound, Luke Mann claimed the win after striking out four batters across five strong innings of work, while Cats starter, Peter Reyes took the loss after giving up 11 runs through 3.2 innings.
Perth 4-5 Morley Eagles
W: Lachy Waite (1-0), L: Brendon Dadson (0-1), S: Chris House (1)
The defending champions, the Morley Eagles, registered their first win of the new season with a hard-fought 5-4 win over a gutsy Perth outfit.

Starting pitcher Lachy Waite set the tone for the Eagles, pitching seven strong innings before handing over to Chris House who collected the final six outs.

Leadoff man Aaron Bonomi picked up a pair of base hits for Morley and drove in a run, while Mitch Williams and Brandon Migro also recorded RBIs.

Gosnells Hawks 1-3 Wanneroo Giants
W: Chris King (1-0), L: Josh Silvi (0-1), S: Tom Bailey (1)
The Wanneroo Giants earned revenge from last year’s Elimination Final loss to the Gosnells Hawks, defeating their rivals 3-1 in their second game of the season.

With the win, the Giants are now 2-0 on the year.

First baseman David Elzig led Wanneroo with three base hits, while a pitching tandem of import Dalton Erb, Chris King and Tom Bailey restricted the Hawks to just three base hits.

Josh Rawlinson threw three scoreless frames in his Gosnells debut, while Josh Silvi was tagged with the loss after giving up a pair of earned runs across 3.1 innings.

Victoria Park/Belmont Reds 3-4 Wembley Magpies
W: Brett Wishart (1-0), L: Matthew Martin (0-1)
The Wembley Magpies rallied from a heavy loss in Week 1 to record a bounce back 4-3 win over the Victoria Park/Belmont Reds.

Brett Wishart pitched a complete-game gem, striking out four batters on route to his first win of the season.

On the flipside, despite throwing 7.2 impressive innings, Reds starter Matthew Martin was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs (three earned).

Swan Districts Swans 0-1 Rockingham Rams
W: Sam Murphy (1-0) L: Matt Ward (0-1), S: Benn Grice (1)
Josh Diggins scored the winning runs as the Rockingham Rams made it two wins from two to start the 2019 season with a narrow 1-0 victory over the Swan Districts Swans.

Diggins led the Rams offensive, scoring the decisive run and picking up two knocks, while Sam Murphy and Benn Grice combined to shutout the Swans.

Matt Ward was charged with the loss after giving up the only run of the ballgame in relief of Dillon Clarkson who had previously worked seven scoreless frames.
