The 2021 Think Again Senior & Intermediate League State Championships continued at Rockingham Baseball Club today with high-scoring matchups. Senior League Swan Hills Aces 9 - Wanneroo Giants 8 Lewdon Te Mara was dialed in at the plate on Thursday, tallying four hits and leading SL - Swan Hills Aces to a 9-8 win over SL - Wanneroo Giants. Te Mara singled in the third, singled in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the eighth. Both offenses were strong at the plate as SL - Swan Hills Aces collected 12 hits and SL - Wanneroo Giants seven in the high-scoring affair. SL - Swan Hills Aces got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for SL - Swan Hills Aces. In the top of the sixth inning, SL - Wanneroo Giants tied things up at eight when Jacob Santich singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. The SL - Swan Hills Aces struggled to contain the high-powered offense of SL - Southern Titans, giving up 11 runs. SL - Southern Titans fired up the offense in the first inning, when Campbell Froude drew a walk, scoring one run. SL - Southern Titans scored five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for SL - Southern Titans came thanks to singles by Samuel Forrest and Adrian Menner, by Mitchell Forrest, and a double by Geoffrey Kerr. Kerr was on the mound for SL - Southern Titans. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Jackson Stivey toed the rubber for SL - Swan Hills Aces. SL - Coastal Bay Sharks tallied seven runs in the failed comeback. Samuel Sheppard, Jaygee Griggs, Niyaz Abdul, Kayne Williamson, Jesse Neretlis, and Jayden Lee powered the rally with RBIs. SL - Coastal Bay Sharks was right in it until SL - Carine Cats singled in the seventh inning. SL - Carine Cats opened up scoring in the first inning, wh en Cooper Granland singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. SL - Coastal Bay Sharks notched seven runs in the fifth inning. Sheppard, Griggs, Abdul, Williamson, and Neretlis all drove in runs in the frame. SL - Carine Cats scored four runs in the fifth inning. SL - Carine Cats scored its runs on a single by Braydin Horsley. Horsley was on the pitcher's mound for SL - Carine Cats. Intermediate League Wanneroo Giants 29 - Southern Hills Warriors 2 IL - Southern Hills Warriors fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 29-2 loss to IL - Wanneroo Giants on Thursday. IL - Wanneroo Giants scored on a single by Quinn Fatai, a walk by Cameron Bahr, a walk by Tom Williams, an error during Rhien Bridges's at bat, a single by Thomas Plummer, a passed ball during Chase Shortland's at bat, a double by Bahr, a single by Oliver Newham, and a home run by Judd MacNeil in the first inning. The IL - Southern Hills Warriors struggled to contain the high-powered offense of IL - Wanneroo Giants, giving up 29 runs. IL - Wanneroo Giants opened up scoring in the first inning, when Fatai singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. MacNeil was on the pitcher's mound for IL - Wanneroo Giants. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out two. Talyn Wall toed the rubber for Southern Hills Warriors. Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. IL - Western Comets collected 11 hits and IL - Western Tigers had eight. IL - Western Tigers took an early lead in the second inning when Aidan McCabe induced Lachlan Firth to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored. IL - Western Comets took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Korbyn Wilson's sac fly scored one run for IL - Western Comets and Jay Nurse induced Noah Forrest to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. IL - Western Comets tallied four runs in the second inning. IL - Western Comets's offense in the inning came from a walk by Forrest and a groundout by Matthew Rowsell. IL - Western Tigers scored six runs in the second inning. The big inning for IL - Western Tigers came thanks to a walk by Clayton Nurse, a single by Brendan Sparkes, a fielder's choice by Firth, and an error on a ball put in play by James Welch. Tyler Lind induced a fly out from Oliver Weall to get the last out of the game. IL - Carine Cats secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fourth inning. IL - Carine Cats big bats were led by Riley Hay, Hunter Pascoe, Dante Miria, Sebastian Noto, Tyler Mann, and Oliver Wilkinson, who all drove in runs. IL - Eastern Phantoms's offense in the inning came from walks by George Calverley, Toby Franklin, Jez Doody, Luke Del Borrello, and Brady Manning, singles by Benjamin Nesbit, Doody, and Del Borrello, groundouts by Cooper Murphy and Dylan Palethorpe, and a home run by Calverley. IL - Eastern Phantoms got on the board in the first inning when Calverley drew a walk, scoring one run. Del Borrello was on the pitcher's mound for IL - Eastern Phantoms. Del Borrello allowed one hit and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking zero. Joshua Lockwood-Reader started the game for IL - Western Comets.
