According to the official press release, summer sports clubs received up to $4,000 in funding to help build healthy club environments and improve knowledge and awareness of healthy eating and drinking. The clubs will now work with Healthway and the Western Australian School Canteen Association to increase healthy food and drink options at club-run canteens or kiosks. The funding will also go towards purchasing equipment to support clubs’ healthy food and drink options and assist staff with training to gain a better understanding of healthier options. "Congratulations to all the sporting clubs that have received funding in the Summer Healthy Sporting Program,” WA Health Minister Roger Cook said. "Sports clubs not only provide physical, mental and social benefits, but are ideally placed to promote healthy food and drink. These grants will help clubs make the small changes needed to influence healthier lifestyles in our communities." Since the program began in 2019, approximately 220 Healthy Sporting Club Grants have been awarded, providing approximately $750,000 in grants to clubs throughout Western Australia. Applications for the Winter Healthy Sporting Club Program will open in February 2022. For more information, please visit the Healthway website. Comments are closed.
