The road to playoff baseball has been a long one for Carine Baseball Club, however that all changes this weekend as the Cats make their first finals appearance in State League 1 since joining the competition in 2012.
A 6-2 win against Swan Districts on the last day of regular play confirmed their spot in the top five, Carine finishing with a 16-14 record. The Cats are now set to compete in an elimination game against South Perth at Perth Harley-Davidson Ballpark from 7pm on Friday night. During the 2012/13 season, Carine Cats Baseball Club was accepted into the current State League competition. “Our admission to State League was a major milestone for our club” said Dean Warren, Carine Baseball Club Life Member and Baseball Chairman for that inaugural 2012/13 season. “We continue to have a strong junior program at Carine and State League representation in both softball and baseball allows our juniors to achieve their goals and aspirations.” The following is a statement outlining Baseball Australia’s position relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 across Australia, and key pieces of information that stakeholders across the country need to be informed of as of the 13th of March 2020.
We want to reassure our baseball community that we are in regular consultation with the key departments of Government, both Federal and State, and are monitoring the public health situation and any possible impacts as a result of COVID-19 (also known as ‘coronavirus’). A MESSAGE FROM BASEBALL WA REGARDING THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) (12 MARCH 2020)
We would like to reassure the Baseball WA community that we are closely monitoring the updates regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) from the Government of Western Australia’s Department of Health, as well as Baseball Australia, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Sport Australia. Presently there are no restrictions on events where large numbers of people congregate, but we are conscious of the need to monitor any developments with COVID-19 and will act in accordance with the advice from the relevant authorities. Baseball WA will provide additional information to our members as it becomes available and keep our community updated on any disruptions to the delivery of regular programs or events, should they occur. The health and well-being of our participants is our highest priority, but it is important that people remain calm and act on the best health advice available. Good luck to the South Perth Cubs and Carine Cats in Friday night's State League 1 elimination game! |
