The second week of the Tee-Ball Super Challenge saw Wanneroo Joondalup take a 2-0 lead with another big outing.

The first year saw a full house of 96 kids participating from across WA, and the program will once again offer an exciting opportunity for players transitioning from tee-ball. The MP70 Summer Champs are also well-suited to kids with a little more experience who want additional game time and wish to play in a tournament-type event. Participants will enjoy excellent coaching at this fun, action-packed week of machine pitch, which will benefit players and clubs competing in the MP60 and MP70 State Championships on 12-15 April 2021. The MP70 Summer Champs are a draft event, meaning registered players will be drafted into teams by coaches. Congratulations to Sacred Heart on winning the 2020 Secondary Schools Baseball Competition. As one of four schools to participate in the event, Sacred Heart enjoyed a 9-2 win in Wednesday's grand final. Well done to all the secondary students who took part - we're looking looking forward to the Primary Schools Baseball Competition next week. Baseball WA is set for the first Schools Baseball Competition starting this week as schools and students from across the Perth metropolitan area come together to test their skills and enjoy the great game of baseball.
Two single-day events will feature the MP70 format of a machine pitch using a diamond with baselines 70 feet long. In the secondary school competition on Wednesday, 18 November, Darling Range, Willetton Senior High School, Sacred Heart and Atlantis Beach Baptist will hit the field at Baseball Park in Thornlie, introducing students to the sport if they haven’t played already and showcasing how fun and inclusive baseball can be. The next week on Thursday, 26 November, it will the primary schools’ turn with Harmony, Alinjara, St Mark’s Anglican and South Padbury signed up and ready to go. Each team will play three games to determine the standings for the final fourth game, with the first pitch on both days at 9:30 AM. “It’s great to have several schools taking part in this exciting new competition,” said David Hayes, Baseball WA Participation Program Manager. “We look forward to a successful event and hopefully getting more schools and students involved in the future." The 2020/21 State League 1 season is well underway, with teams taking to the field for Sunday's doubleheaders. The Braves are 5-2-0, putting them narrowly in front of 5-1 Morley and South Perth.

Braves Baseball Club 10 v Wembley Magpies 0 The Braves defeated Wembley 10-0 on Sunday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cameron Lamb struck out Liam Anderson to finish off the game. In the first inning, the Braves got their offense started with two runs scoring on a Kevin Clark single. Then they scored five more in the fourth inning as Clark, Sean Garratt, Tye Kazmierowski, and Jack Rigden all moved runners across the plate. A double by Jake Willson in the second inning was a positive for Wembley. Lamb took the win for the Braves after giving up no hits, no walks and no runs across two innings. Braxton Conroy took the loss for the Magpies following his three and a third innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits. Broadee Binder started the game for the Braves. The righty lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and walking one Rigden went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Braves in hits. They made no errors on the field, with Clark having the most plays with six, while Wembley made two errors. Braves Baseball Club 3 v Wembley Magpies 0 The Braves continued to dominate in game two with a 3-0 shutout victory over Wembley thanks to solid contributions from four pitchers. Sam Kennelly induced a groundout from Kai Kurasho to finish off the game. The pitching was strong on both sides. Braves pitchers struck out ten, while Wembley pitchers sat down four. The Braves opened up scoring in the first inning when Tim Kennelly grounded out, scoring one run. Wembley had a single by Adam Van Brakel in the seventh inning. Alex Oehme got the win for the Braves as the lefty lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one. Kennelly and Daniel Schmidt entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Kennelly recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Braves. Nick Alexiou took the loss for Wembley, covering six and a third innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three. Todd Hatcher started the game for the Braves, giving up no hits and no runs over four innings with four strikeouts. Kennelly led the Braves with two hits in three at bats while Van Brakel went 1-for-4 at the plate to lead the Magpies, who have dropped the last seven and play Swan Districts on Sunday. The ladder-leading Braves play other top team Morley next. Victoria Park Belmont Reds 12 v Wanneroo Giants 0 Matthew Martin didn't allow a single run against Wanneroo, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Victoria Park Belmont to a 12-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. In the first inning, the Reds got their offense started when Joshua Greenham singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. They also tallied six runs in the fourth inning, driven by singles from Chris Dawson and Jack Smalpage, a walk by Ryan Boyer and a sac fly by Martin. Ben King had a single for the Giants in the second inning. Martin led things off on the hill for the Reds, throwing six innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Chris King was on the mound for Wanneroo. He gave up eight runs on four hits over three and a third innings, striking out two. Jackson Riley threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Reds had one home run on the day when Martin put one out in the sixth inning. They racked up eight hits total, including a 3-for-4 day from Smalpage and multiple hits for Dawson and Greenham. King went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Giants in hits. The Giants made two errors while the Reds made one. Victoria Park Belmont Reds 0 v Wanneroo Giants 12 Victoria Park Belmont Reds watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-0 loss to Wanneroo on Sunday. The Giants scored on a single by Ben King in the first inning and a single by Daniel Stephenson in the second inning. The Reds struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Giants, giving up 12 runs. Wanneroo got on the board in the first inning when King singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Jay Bullingham led the Giants to victory on the pitcher's mound. The righty surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, walking zero. Madison Beaird threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Corey Brown took the loss for the Reds. The hurler went two innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking zero. Tom Bailey started the game for the Giants. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six, while his teammates tallied 14 hits in the game. Nicholas Riley, Beaird, and King each had multiple hits for the Giants, with Riley going 4-for-4. The Giants were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error while the Reds made two. Courtney Jones had the most chances in the field with eight. Wanneroo is now 5-2 and set to play Rockingham this weekend while the Reds are 3-4 before playing South Perth. Rockingham Rams 4 v Swan Districts Swans 7 Rockingham stayed in it until the end, but the Swans pulled away late in a 7-4 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at four with the Swans batting in the top of the sixth when Tyson Noel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The Rams had fired up the offense in the first inning as Cayden Nicoletto drove in two when Nicoletto singled. The Swans evened things up at four in the top of the third inning when Dylan Bojarski singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Riley Moore earned the win for the Swan District Swans SL1. Moore lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out 11. Brock Molloy took the loss for Rockingham after throwing six innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out three. The Rams collected nine hits on the day as Joshua Diggins went 3-for-4 and Nicoletto had two. The Swans racked up 11 hits with three for Bojarski and two for Kirk Peacock. Rockingham Rams 2 v Swan Districts Swans 3 The Rams stayed in it until the end, but the Swans pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Sunday night. The Swans were down 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning when an error scored two runs to secure the win. The pitching was strong on both sides, with six strikeouts for Swans pitchers and nine for Rockingham's pitching staff. The Swans got things moving in the first inning, when Maddux Stivey's sac fly scored one run. The Rams evened things up at one in the bottom of the third inning with a sac fly from Joshua Diggins. Dillian Clarkson was the winning pitcher for the Swans, allowing ten hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four. Stivey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen and recorded the last six outs to earn the save. Cayden Nicoletto took the loss for the Rams, throwing six and a third innings, allowing three runs on zero hits and striking out six. The Rams had 11 hits in the game including three for Chase Diggins. Tomas Swinson, Caydyn Hancock and Corbin Todd also had multiple hits. Each team made two errors on the day although the Rams held the Swans to just two hits. Rockingham is now 3-5 ahead of a matchup with Wanneroo while the Swans are 5-2 and play Wembley next. Carine Cats 0 v Gosnells Hawks 16 Carine had a tough time generating runs on Sunday as Kane Silvi took the win for the Hawks with a fantastic no-hitter. The righty went seven innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out seven and walking zero. Jacob Stanton took the loss for Carine after giving up four hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two with no walks. The Hawks had 14 hits overall, including multiple for Ryan Smith, Liam Collins, Robin Adamson, Louis Scaramella and Michael Robideau. This result saw the Hawks improve to a 2-3-2 record with their next game against South Perth while the 1-7 Cats play Perth this weekend. Perth Baseball Club 6 v Morley Eagles 2 Perth took home a 6-2 victory over the Eagles on Sunday, handing them their first loss of the season. Perth SL1 fired up the offense in the first inning. Brady Oliphant drove in three when Oliphant homered. Guillaume Duguay was the winning pitcher for Perth, surrendering two runs on seven hits over nine innings, striking out nine and walking one. Lachy Southee toed the rubber for Morley, giving up five runs on eight hits over four and a third innings, striking out four and walking one. Brendan Sing threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Perth had a total of ten hits in the game as Jesse Barron and Edgar Mundarain each racked up multiple hits. Barron went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the side. Kieran Chapman led Morley with two hits in four at bats.
