Baseball WA COVID-19 Update 11 February 2021

11/2/2021

Picture
Baseball WA continues to work with clubs to make adjustments based on the COVID restrictions that will remain in place for junior games on Saturday. Please check your team fixtures for the latest updates and check with your club if required.

Most importantly, the following requirements will be applicable for all junior baseball activity this weekeend:
  • No canteen, bar or changeroom facilities
  • No shared drink bottles or water jugs
  • Everyone attending a club or venue will be required sign in using the Safe WA app or contact register
  • Maximum use of two diamonds at once at any one club
  • Batters, runners, and fielders on the field are exempted from wearing a mask. All others officiating the game are required to wear a mask, including:
    • Coaches in the dugouts
    • Coaches on 1st and 3rd base
    • Umpires
    • Players on the bench or warming up
    • Scorers
    • Team managers

The post-lockdown transition period for Perth and Peel includes:
  • Wearing a mask when in public and while at work, unless exempt or for vigorous outdoor exercise
  • 4 square metre capacity rule in place for businesses and venues, up to a maximum of 150
  • 150-person capacity at all events including weddings, funerals and community sport

There are a couple of additional points in specific relation to juniors, being:
  1. In line with the requirements around primary school, players in Little League teams are exempt from wearing a mask (LL-aged players in older age teams will need to wear one however).
  2. Maximum of two diamonds per venue remains in force and should be as far away from each other as possible.
  3. Where other user groups, particularly tee-ball, are sharing your facility and plan on running their competitions, baseball games cannot commence until the other user group activity is completed.
  4. Three timeslots can be used, being 8.30am to 10.00am for Little League (taking into account point 3) - 11.30am to 1.30pm for IL & SL - 3.30pm to 5.30pm for JL & BL.
  5. Players and supporters must vacate the venue immediately following the completion of their game - no hanging around.
  6. Players and supporters are not to arrive at the playing venue earlier than one hour prior to game time.

As was the case with seniors, the above requirements will require games to be moved around and in some cases, utilise different venues not otherwise being used for juniors. Where needed and possible, games may be moved out of the traditional timeslot, subject to agreement of both teams. Please note the change of game times is NOT automatic - both teams need to agree the available game times are acceptable.

Baseball WA kindly asks parents and players to use the competition management system/GameChanger to keep up to date with changes to venues and times. When changes have been made and agreed upon by all parties, please email Caroline at support@baseballwa.asn.au and have her make the required changes.

Baseball WA will provide any further updates accordingly.

We wish everyone has a safe weekend of baseball!

For more details on the COVID situation, please view the WA State Government restrictions.
