Wanneroo Giants Win 2021/22 State League 1 Grand Final

Congratulations to Wanneroo Giants on winning the 2021/22 State league 1 Premiership!

The Giants beat Morley in a best-of-three series to bring home the flag after finishing the season neck and neck at the top of the ladder.

Well done to both teams on a successful season and check out recaps from the grand final series below.

Game 1 - Wanneroo 3 v Morley 1
Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound on Wednesday, but Wanneroo Giants SL1 was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Morley Eagles SL1 on Wednesday. Adam Millson started the game for Morley Eagles SL1 and recorded 22 outs.

Tom Bailey was the winning pitcher for Wanneroo Giants SL1. The righty lasted eight and a third innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out ten. Conor Lourey threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Lourey recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Wanneroo Giants SL1.

Millson took the loss for Morley Eagles SL1. The pitcher surrendered one run on five hits over seven and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Kieran Chapman led Morley Eagles SL1 with two hits in four at bats.

Wanneroo Giants SL1 collected seven hits. Nicholas Riley and Daniel Bourke all managed multiple hits for Wanneroo Giants SL1. Riley led Wanneroo Giants SL1 with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. Wanneroo Giants SL1 didn't commit a single error in the field. Courtney Jones had the most chances in the field with 13.

Game 2 - Morley 8 v Wanneroo 4
Wanneroo Giants SL1 watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-4 loss to Morley Eagles SL1 on Friday. Morley Eagles SL1 scored on an error and a groundout by Luke Hughes in the first inning.
Morley Eagles SL1 got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Morley Eagles SL1.

Morley Eagles SL1 scored four runs in the fourth inning. Morley Eagles SL1's big inning was driven by a single by Cody Holt, a sac fly by Jesse Williams, and a home run by Mitchell Schofield.

Josh Silvi led the Morley Eagles SL1 to victory on the hill. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five. Adam Millson and Riley Franklin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Frazer Brice took the loss for Wanneroo Giants SL1. The righthander went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out one.
Wanneroo Giants SL1 launched one home run on the day. Daniel Bourke went for the long ball in the third inning.

Wanneroo Giants SL1 racked up nine hits. Nicholas Riley, Bourke, and Byron Armstrong all managed multiple hits for Wanneroo Giants SL1. Armstrong, Bourke, and Riley each collected two hits to lead Wanneroo Giants SL1.

Morley Eagles SL1 tallied ten hits in the game. Holt, Jayson Miller, Hughes, and Aaron Bonomi all had multiple hits for Morley Eagles SL1. Holt led Morley Eagles SL1 with three hits in four at bats.

Game 3 - Wanneroo 6 v Morley 4
Morley Eagles SL1 stayed in it until the end, but Wanneroo Giants SL1 pulled away late in a 6-4 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Wanneroo Giants SL1 batting in the top of the eighth when Daniel Bourke's sac fly scored one run for Wanneroo Giants SL1.

Wanneroo Giants SL1 knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning. Bourke's sac fly scored one run for Wanneroo Giants SL1.

Jay Bullingham got the win for Wanneroo Giants SL1. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero. Tom Bailey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Riley Franklin took the loss for Morley Eagles SL1. The pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over two-thirds of an inning, walking zero.

Adam Millson started the game for Morley Eagles SL1. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings Conor Lourey started the game for Wanneroo Giants SL1. The lefty went six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven

Luke Hughes went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Morley Eagles SL1 in hits.

Wanneroo Giants SL1 collected ten hits on the day. Daniel Stephenson, Nicholas Riley, Dawson Summers, and Bourke all managed multiple hits for Wanneroo Giants SL1.
