Morley Eagles 8-3 Swan Districts Swans W: Locky Southee (1-0), L: Dillon Clarkson (0-2) Buoyed by last week’s statement win over Braves, the defending champions, the Morley Eagles produced yet another dramatic win, coming from behind to beat Swan Districts 8-3 to open the Week 7 fixtures. The Eagles rallied from 3-0 down, scoring five runs in the top of the ninth inning to cap off a remarkable comeback. Zach McMillin and Adrian Blount drove in two runs each, while Locky Southee worked five scoreless frames in relief to steady the ship for Morley. Game 1: Rockingham Rams 4-4 Braves
Game 2: Rockingham Rams 2-3 Braves W: Mitch Neunborn (1-0), L: Brock Molloy (0-3) After playing out a 4-4 draw during the first game of their double header, Braves claimed bragging rights over the Rockingham Rams, picking up a tight 3-2 game two win over the weekend. Ian Yetsko and Sam Kennelly led the way for the Braves with two hits each in game one as Misja Harcksen and Sam Murphy battled in out on the mound. All the drama came in game two, however, as the Braves recorded a walk-off win. Locked at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Dyer singled to score Jack Ridgen to lift Braves to victory. On the mound, Mitch Neunborn picked up the win after tossing a scoreless ninth inning, while Brock Molloy took the loss. Carine Cats 2-4 Perth W: Guillaume Duguay (2-1), L: Jhai Anderson (1-1) Guillaume Duguay threw a complete game as Perth came from behind to down the Carine Cats 4-2. Duguay struck out eight batters on 128 pitches as the Perth offence rallied late – scoring four runs in the eighth inning to pick up the win. Niccolo Loardi homered, while Jake White also drove in a run as Perth got on top of Cats reliever Jhai Anderson. Carine starter Devon Ramirez had previously worked 5.2 scoreless innings – punching out eight. South Perth Cubs 6-3 Wanneroo Giants W: Will Sherriff (2-0), L: Tom Bailey (0-1) Relief pitcher Will Sherriff threw five shutout innings as the South Perth Cubs defeated rivals the Wanneroo Giants 6-3. Despite trailing 3-0 after five innings, the Cubs offence stepped up late – scoring four runs in the sixth before adding insurance runs in the eighth and ninth inning. Designated hitter Adam Gendall had a multi-hit game for South Perth as Josh Hendrickson and Sherriff out-duelled Wanneroo starter Tom Bailey. Victoria Park/Belmont Reds 1-2 Gosnells Hawks W: Josh Silvi (2-1), L: Michael Ryan (0-1) Douglas Trimble’s eighth-inning run was the difference as the Gosnells Hawks overcame a spirited Victoria Park/Belmont Reds 2-1. A duo of Josh’s – Silvi and Rawlinson combined to restrict Victoria Park to just five hits on the afternoon. Jamie White was the pick of the Gosnells hitters, going 3-3 whilst driving in the winning run. Gosnells Hawks 3-4 Wanneroo Giants W: Jason Ryan (1-0), L: Adam Millson (1-1) The Wanneroo Giants bounced back from their earlier loss to South Perth by defeating the Gosnells Hawks in a nail-biter. Down by a score of 3-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Giants rallied for three late runs. Daniel Bourke singled in Chris King before Blake Monaghan came around to score on a fielding error from the Hawks in a dramatic ending to the game.
