Braves 10-11 Carine Cats W: Peter Reyes (5-4), L: Misja Harcksen (6-2) The Carine Cats kicked off the Week 16 fixtures in stunning fashion, scoring three runs in the bottom of the tenth inning walk off the Braves 11-10. Trailing 10-8 after the Braves scored two runs in the top of the tenth, second baseman Cameron Landy came up clutch – smacking a three-run triple to deep centre field to clear the bases and hand the Cats victory. Landy made his only hit of the game count, as he finished with a team-high four RBIs. Braves left fielder Graeme Scorer matched him with four RBIs of his own, including an RBI single to put the Braves on top in extras. Carine had other ideas, however, walking off the game with Peter Reyes collecting the win. Game 1: Victoria Park/Belmont Reds 1-4 Wanneroo Giants
W: Tom Bailey (6-1), L: Dylan Brammer (8-2) Game 2: Victoria Park/Belmont Reds 2-11 Wanneroo Giants W: Chris King (7-2), L: Corey Brown (0-3) The Wanneroo Giants remained top of the WA State League 1 standings with a double-header sweep of the Victoria Park/Belmont Reds. After claiming a tight 4-1 win in game one, the Giants bats came to the party – leading them to an 11-2 game two win. Led by a complete game from Tom Bailey, the Giants took a close ballgame in game one as the right hander struck out nine across seven frames to claim the win. That all changed in game two, as Jake Turnbull homered and drove in three runs as the Giants blew the contest out 11-2. Madison Beaird also drove in three runs for Wanneroo as they scored five runs in both the sixth and eighth inning in the rout. Wembley Magpies 0-16 Braves W: Broadee Binder (1-0), L: Brett Wishart (1-2) You can’t keep a good team down for long, and Braves proved that as they bounced back from Wednesday night’s loss to claim an emphatic 16-0 win over the Wembley Magpies over the weekend. Ian Yetsko and Mitch Neunborn both homered for the Braves, with the pair driving in five and four runs respectively. On the mound, a combination of Cameron Lamb, Broadee Binder and Dan Schmidt kept the Magpies offence at bay – limiting them to just two base hits. Swan Districts Swans 3-15 South Perth Cubs W: Luke Mann (3-1), L: Dillon Clarkson (3-9) The South Perth Cubs offence had a day – racking up an impressive 18 team hits as they took care of the Swan Districts Swans 15-3. Adam Barbarich, Jake Bowey and Ben Stanbury all cleared the fence for the Cubs as they cruised home. Bowey led the way with five RBIs on three base hits, while Barbarich and Stanbury each drove in three. Bowey then turned to the mound to secure the final three outs of the ballgame as Luke Mann earned the win. Mitch Schofield homered for Swans, driving in all three of their runs. Rockingham Rams 3-7 Carine Cats W: Cody Holt (5-1), L: Brock Molloy (2-7) The Carine Cats made it two wins for the weekend after defeating Rockingham Rams 7-3. Devon Ramirez led the Cats with three base knocks and an RBI, while Cody Holt fanned five batters over a complete-game win on the mound. Brock Molloy did his best to keep the Rams in the contest – striking out six across seven innings, but ultimately, Carine’s three-run first inning was too big of a hurdle to overcome. Gosnells Hawks 4-3 Perth W: Josh Silvi (3-3), L: Guillaume Duguay (5-4), S: Josh Rawlinson (1) It was the long ball that did the damage for the Gosnells Hawks as Robin Adamson, Douglas Trimble and Adam Courcha all went deep in their 4-3 win over Perth to round out the Week 16 fixtures. The trio combined to drive in all four of the Hawks’ runs as they were well supported by a strong pitching display from Josh Silvi and Josh Rawlinson. Silvi struck out five batters across seven innings to claim the win, while Rawlinson nailed down the save after collecting the final six outs. Comments are closed.
