The 2021 Think Again Senior & Intermediate League State Championships finished on a high note with Wanneroo and Eastern Phantoms taking out big wins in the grand finals. Photos are published HERE. Senior League Southern Titans 8 - Coastal Bay Sharks 5 SL - Coastal Bay Sharks scored three runs in the sixth inning, but SL - Southern Titans still won 8-5 on Sunday. Lyndon Morgan, Daniel Papiccio, and Blake Foster all drove in runs in the frame. SL - Coastal Bay Sharks got things started in the first inning when Taj Gosling singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. SL - Southern Titans evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Geoffrey Kerr drew a walk, scoring one run. SL - Southern Titans pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Nicholas Davis singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. SL - Southern Titans tallied three runs in the third inning. SL - Southern Titans offense in the inning was led by Luke Taylor, Ebony Hinchliffe, and Davis, all driving in runs in the frame. Campbell Froude led things off on the pitcher's mound for SL - Southern Titans. The righty lasted five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six. Joshua Voute started the game for SL - Coastal Bay Sharks. Voute went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. Morgan and Jayden Lee entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively. SL - Southern Titans saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Davis and Hinchliffe each managed multiple hits for SL - Southern Titans. Davis led SL - Southern Titans with three hits in four at bats. Jaygee Griggs went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead SL - Coastal Bay Sharks in hits. Carine Cats 2 - Southern Titans 1 SL - Southern Titans fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 2-1 loss to SL - Carine Cats on Sunday. The pitching was strong on both sides. SL - Carine Cats pitchers struck out ten, while SL - Southern Titans sat down eight. SL - Carine Cats got things moving in the second inning. Jordan Strohfeld drew a walk, scoring one run. Sean Escott got the start for SL - Carine Cats. The southpaw went six and a third innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out ten and walking one. Nicholas Davis led things off on the mound for SL - Southern Titans. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out six. Mitchell Forrest threw two-thirds of an inning in relief. Geoffrey Kerr, Samuel Forrest, and Campbell Froude each managed one hit to lead SL - Southern Titans. Braydin Horsley went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Carine in hits. Grand Final: Wanneroo Giants 20 - Swan Hills Aces 4 Five runs batted in from Jacob Santich helped lead SL - Wanneroo Giants past SL - Swan Hills Aces 20-4 on Sunday. Santich drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the third, and a single in the third. SL - Swan Hills Aces scored three runs in the fourth inning, but SL - Wanneroo Giants still managed to pull out the victory. Lewdon Te Mara and Kai Cahill powered the big inning with RBIs. In the first inning, SL - Wanneroo Giants got their offense started when Santich doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. SL - Wanneroo Giants notched 11 runs in the third inning. SL - Wanneroo Giants offense in the inning was led by Santich, Ryan Gough, Tyler Ebersberger, Rhys Kelly, Dawson George, and Kaine Newham, all driving in runs in the inning. Newham got the start for SL - Wanneroo Giants. The pitcher went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out five. Ben Ferencakovic led things off on the hill for SL - Swan Hills Aces. The righthander allowed six runs on four hits. Te Mara, Corey Edwards, and Michael De Gasperis each contributed in relief for SL - Swan Hills Aces. SL - Wanneroo Giants saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Santich, Newham, Jack Angell, and George all had multiple hits for SL - Wanneroo Giants. Newham and Santich each collected three hits to lead SL - Wanneroo Giants. SL - Swan Hills Aces didn't commit a single error in the field. Cahill had four chances in the field, the most on the team. Intermediate League Western Comets 12 - Southern Hills 8 IL - Southern Hills Warriors stayed in it until the end, but IL - Western Comets pulled away late in a 12-8 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at six with IL - Western Comets batting in the top of the fifth when Noah Forrest doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. IL - Southern Hills Warriors collected six hits and IL - Western Comets had 13 in the high-scoring affair. IL - Southern Hills Warriors opened up an early lead in the first inning when William Baker tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Matthew Rowsell led things off on the mound for IL - Western Comets. Rowsell lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and eight runs while striking out six. Adam Rawlinson was on the pitcher's mound for IL - Southern Hills Warriors. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on seven hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven. Kyan Paterson threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen. Jett Marchesano led IL - Southern Hills Warriors with two hits in three at bats. IL - Southern Hills Warriors tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Isabella Cleva led the way with three. IL - Western Comets scattered 13 hits in the game. Rowsell, Aidan McCabe, and Korbyn Wilson each collected multiple hits for IL - Western Comets. Rowsell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead IL - Western Comets in hits. Deakon Pribicevich led IL - Western Comets with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases. Carine Cats 14 - Western Tigers 8 IL - Western Tigers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-8 loss to IL - Carine Cats on Sunday. IL - Carine Cats scored on a single by Hunter Pascoe in the first inning. IL - Western Tigers collected four hits and IL - Carine Cats had nine in the high-scoring affair. IL - Carine Cats got things started in the first inning. Brendan Sparkes threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for IL - Carine Cats. IL - Western Tigers notched six runs in the fourth inning. IL - Western Tigers big bats were led by Sparkes, Bodhi Gray, and Oliver Mortensen, all driving in runs in the inning. IL - Carine Cats scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Dante Miria, Riley Hay, Pascoe, Riley Groves, Callum Jack, and Miria each drove in runs during the inning. Hay was on the hill for IL - Carine Cats. The pitcher surrendered two runs on two hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Sparkes was on the mound for IL - Western Tigers. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and 13 runs while striking out four. Mortensen threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Grand Final: Eastern Phantoms 10 - Wanneroo Giants 0 Brady Manning threw a shutout gem on Sunday for IL - Eastern Phantoms, allowing zero runs and besting IL - Wanneroo Giants by a score of 10-0. IL - Eastern Phantoms opened up scoring in the first inning. Toby Franklin grounded out, scoring one run. IL - Eastern Phantoms tallied four runs in the fifth inning. IL - Eastern Phantoms offense in the inning was led by George Calverley and Franklin, all driving in runs in the frame. One bright spot for IL - Wanneroo Giants was a single by Tom Williams in the second inning. Manning led things off on the mound for IL - Eastern Phantoms. The righthander surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out eight. Cameron Bahr started the game for IL - Wanneroo Giants. The righthander surrendered seven runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out six. Rafael DiBlasi threw one-third of an inning in relief. IL - Eastern Phantoms totaled ten hits in the game. Franklin, Ryan Warner, and Benjamin Nesbit all managed multiple hits for IL - Eastern Phantoms. Nesbit, Warner, and Franklin each managed two hits to lead IL - Eastern Phantoms. Junior League After last Sunday's Junior League Finals were washed out, the rescheduled JL 3 v 4 game took place on Sunday, with Western Tigers winning 17-2 over Southern Hills Warriors to advance to the Northern Australia Shield in Darwin. Max Trivic was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Sunday, driving in five on two hits to lead Western Tigers past Southern Hills Warriors. He drove in runs on a walk in the first, a triple in the second, and a double in the third. The Tigers fired up the offense in the first inning, when Boston Foot singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. The Tigers notched eight runs in the third inning. Foot, Trivic, Brock Dennis, Thomas Romeo, Xavia Aporo, and Kyan Bertolini had RBIs in the inning. Foot led things off on the mound for JL - Western Tigers. The pitcher went two innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out five and walking one. Keelan Murray started the game for JL - Southern Hills Warriors. The righty lasted two innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out three. Riley Hall threw one and one-third innings out of the bullpen. The Tigers scattered ten hits in the game including two apiece from Dennis, Trivic, and Foot. The team tore up the base paths as Bertolini led the way to steal three.
