Baseball WA's inaugural Indigenous Round continued throughout the weekend with the community coming together to show support - thank you to all who got involved! Braves, Morley, Victoria Park Belmont, Wanneroo, Carine, and Perth picked up wins in Harcher State League. Read GameChanger recaps below and view fixtures HERE. Follow BWA on Facebook and Instagram for the latest news throughout the season. Braves 7, Wembley 0 Wembley Magpies fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-0 loss to Braves on Friday. Braves scored on singles by Joel Beches, Josh Kennelly, and Tucker Smith in the first inning. A single by Rick Kuipers in the first inning was a positive for Wembley. Smith got the start for Braves. The bulldog went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out 16 and walking zero. Nick Alexiou led things off on the pitcher's mound for Wembley. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four. Chris Crawford threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Matic Lesnjak, Jake Willson, Kuipers, and Crawford each managed one hit to lead Wembley. The Magpies didn't commit a single error in the field as Michael Albertini had the most chances with nine. Braves racked up eight hits on the day. Kevin Clark went 4-for-4 and Kennelly had multiple hits, too. Morley 12, South Perth 1 Morley Eagles knocked in seven runs in the eighth on the way to a 12-1 victory over South Perth Souths on Saturday. The rally was led by singles by Cody Holt and Lochy Southee, an error on a ball put in play by Luke Hughes and Adam Millson, and a double by Josh Silvi. Millson was the winning pitcher for Morley. The ace surrendered one run on five hits over eight innings, striking out four and walking one. Lachlan McKinnon took the loss for South Perth. The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing four hits and five runs. Morley totaled 12 hits in the game. Brandon Migro went 3-for-4 as Holt and Southee also had multiple hits. Max Wheeler went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead South Perth in hits. Victoria Park Belmont 16, Swan Districts 2 An early lead helped Victoria Park Belmont Reds defeat Swan Districts Swans 16-2 on Saturday. The Reds scored on a home run by Jack Smalpage in the first inning. They pulled away for good with four runs in the second on a single by Andrew Hurrelbrink, a walk by Sean Garratt, a fielder's choice by Smalpage, and an error. The Reds notched five runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from walks by Joshua Cosgrove and Josh Paull, a single by Cole Jenkins, and a groundout by Garratt. Riley Marsh earned the win for Vic Park. The fireballer went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five and walking one. Hurrelbrink started the game, lasting four innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out three. Dillian Clarkson took the loss for Swan Districts. The pitcher allowed four hits and six runs over one and one-third innings. Joshua Greenham led the Reds with two hits in five at bats while Anthony Daniele went 2-for-3 for the Swans. Wanneroo 6, Braves 2 Braves lost the lead late in a 6-2 defeat to Wanneroo Giants on Sunday. The game was tied at two with Wanneroo batting in the top of the ninth when Nick Irwin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Braves opened up scoring in the second inning on Josh Kennelly's sac fly. Wanneroo tied things up at two in the top of the eighth with a sacrifice fly from Dawson Summers. Jordan Matos was the winning pitcher for Wanneroo. The righty lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Yuichi Shiota threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Flynn McGahan took the loss for Braves. The righty lasted three and a third innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out two. Tom Bailey started the game for Wanneroo. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out eight and walking one. Matt Kennelly started the game for Braves. The pitcher allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Kevin Clark went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Braves in hits. Braves didn't commit a single error in the field as Kennelly had the most chances with ten. Wanneroo racked up 12 hits in the game including multiple for Ben King, Jacob Santich, and Irwin. Carine 11, Rockingham 7 Carine Cats ran off with the lead late in the game for an 11-7 victory over Rockingham Rams on Sunday. Carine trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Joel Hughes singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Carine collected 14 hits and Rockingham had 13. Rockingham captured the lead in the second inning when Mitchell Field singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Carine knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning. Samuel Gooch singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Simon Fisch earned the win for Carine. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking zero. Vinnie Tarantola took the loss for Rockingham. The pitcher allowed 13 hits and ten runs over six innings, striking out eight. Tarrant Reimers started the game for Carine. The ace allowed 11 hits and five runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Carine tallied one home run on the day as Olal Carter went deep in the fifth inning. The Cats totaled 14 hits. Carter and Joshua Davies had three hits apiece. Rockingham tallied 13 hits in the game. Donnie Stone went 3-for-4 as Dion Davey, Field, Luke Turner, and Tarantola all collected multiple hits, too. Perth 9, Gosnells 4 Gosnells Hawks watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-4 loss to Perth on Sunday. Perth scored on a groundout by Brady Oliphant in the first inning, a groundout by Devon Ramirez-Beaver in the third inning, and a single by Ronnie Sweeny in the third inning. Perth opened up scoring in the first inning, when Oliphant grounded out, scoring one run. Peter Reyes led Perth to victory on the hill. Reyes went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out 15. Ramirez-Beaver threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Jameson Kruger took the loss for Gosnells. The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out three. Eli Von Garsen led the Hawks with three hits in five at bats. Perth collected 11 hits on the day.
