West Australian Liam Hendriks has been named the American League Reliever of the Month for the second time this season and the fourth time in his MLB career.
Hendriks received the honor for September/October after going 8-for-8 in save opportunities for the Chicago White Sox. He gave up just six hits and no walks in 13 2⁄3 innings with 21 strikeouts in 13 appearances. He had seven appearances without a hit and did not give up more than one hit in any game, as his opponents averaged .128 against him over the month. In his first season with the White Sox, Hendriks went 8-3 with a 2.54 ERA, 38 saves, and 113 strikeouts. He made 69 appearances and walked only seven batters, ranking first out of all AL relief pitchers in strikeouts, WHIP, and opponents average and opponents on-base percentage. Hendriks made history last month by becoming the first White Sox pitcher in franchise history to record 30-plus saves and 100-plus strikeouts in a season. Hendriks helped the White Sox to the playoffs as they face the Houston Astros in the ALDS, which you can watch on Kayo HERE. Comments are closed.
