The Scorpions defeated the Stingrays in an exciting Diamond League U24 grand final on Wednesday night at Empire Ballpark.

Scorpions nabbed the lead late in the game in a 13-7 victory over Stingrays on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with Scorpions batting in the bottom of the fifth when Andrew Hurrelbrink drew a walk, scoring one run. Callum Hurrelbrink led Scorpions to victory by driving in six runs. Hurrelbrink went 2-for-4 at the plate. Hurrelbrink drove in runs on a groundout in the first, a single in the third, and a triple in the fifth. Scorpions opened up scoring in the first inning, when Hurrelbrink grounded out, scoring one run. After Stingrays scored one run in the top of the sixth, Scorpions answered with one of their own. Stingrays scored when an error scored one run for Stingrays. Scorpions then answered when Michael De Gasperis singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Curtis Bacon got the start for Scorpions. The hurler lasted three innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out four and walking zero. Lucas John was on the pitcher's mound for Stingrays.
