Harcher State League is back in 2023! Morley, Braves, Swan Districts, Rockingham, Perth, and South Perth kicked off the new year with big victories over the weekend. Braves 3, Gosnells 0 Tucker Smith didn't allow a single run as Braves defeated Gosnells Hawks 3-0 on Saturday. Smith allowed just three hits. The pitching was strong on both sides. Smith struck out 21, while Gosnells pitchers sat down 12. Braves got on the board in the first inning as an error scored one run. A single by Jack Burt in the second inning was a positive for Gosnells. Smith took the win for Braves. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on three hits over nine innings, striking out 21. Jameson Kruger took the loss for Gosnells. The pitcher went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out nine. Cody Parkinson, Elliott Curtis, and Smith each managed one hit to lead Braves. They didn't commit a single error in the field as Kevin Clark had the most chances with 21. Swan Districts 13, South Perth 1 South Perth Souths fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-1 loss to Swan Districts Swans on Sunday. The Swans scored on a sacrifice fly by Demias Jimerson and a groundout by Maverick Hamilton in the first inning. The Swans scored eight runs in the second inning. Their offense was led by Anthony Daniele, Jimerson, Daniel Johnston, Dustin Brown, and Ashton Hamilton, all driving in runs in the frame. Marshall Shill earned the win for Swan Districts. The ace lasted five innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six and walking one. Jai Hewitt took the loss for South Perth. Hewitt went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out one. Adam Barbarich, Joshua Rawlinson, Jaxon Limpus, and Cameron Landy each collected one hit for South Perth. Swan Districts collected ten hits as Brown went 3-for-4 at the plate and Daniele had multiple hits, too. The Swans were sure handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Conor Parry made the most plays with seven. Morley 10, Carine 2 Carine Cats couldn't keep up with Morley Eagles and fell 10-2 on Sunday. Morley scored three runs in the eighth inning with RBIs from Matt Dixon and Brandon Migro. Adam Millson led the Eagles to victory on the hill. The ace went six innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out seven and walking zero. Todd Murphy and Cody Holt entered the game out of the bullpen to close it down in relief. Tarrant Reimers took the loss for Carine, lasting four innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one. Cooper McDonnell led Carine with two hits in three at bats. Morley tallied 14 hits in the game. Dixon, Aaron Bonomi, Holt, Kieran Chapman, Lochy Southee, and Migro each racked up multiple hits for Morley. The Eagles didn't commit a single error in the field as Dixon had the most chances with 14. Rockingham 15, Victoria Park Belmont 3 Rockingham Rams grabbed an early lead on its way to a 15-3 victory over Victoria Park Belmont Reds on Sunday. Rockingham scored on a groundout by Tomas Swinson and a wild pitch during Thomas Flynn's at bat in the first inning. The Rams added runs in the second with a home run by Jesse Sequeira, a single by Donnie Stone, and a walk by Swinson. The Reds scored three runs in the second inning after an error on a ball put in play by Chris Dawson and a double by Jack Smalpage. Rockingham pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. Sequeira hit a solo homer, Stone singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Swinson drew a walk, scoring one run. The Rams notched five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Swinson, Flynn, Sequeira, David Nichols, and Mitchell Field. Vinnie Tarantola took the win for Rockingham. The pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out eight. Brock Molloy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cole Jenkins took the loss for the Reds. Jenkins lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out two. Rockingham tallied one home run on the day. Sequeira had a long ball in the second inning. The Rams had 16 hits total as Sequeira went 3-for-5 and Flynn, Nichols, Swinson, Field, Stone, and Tarantola all had multiple hits, too. Smalpage led the Reds with two hits in three at bats. Perth 11, Wembley 0 Perth defeated Wembley Magpies 11-0 on Sunday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Devon Ramirez-Beaver struck out Oki Takishima to finish off the game. Perth scored one run on an error in the first before pulling ahead with six in the fourth. The offense came from a walk by Kaine Newham, a single by Edgar Mundarain, a fielder's choice by Peter Reyes, and a double by Brady Oliphant. One bright spot for Wembley was a single by Joshua Houston in the seventh inning. Reyes earned the win for Perth. Reyes went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out eight and walking one. Jake White and Ramirez-Beaver entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close it out in relief. Michael Albertini took the loss for Wembley. The pitcher allowed zero hits and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one. Perth smacked one home run on the day. Ronnie Sweeny went yard in the fifth inning. Perth tallied ten hits on the day. Ramirez-Beaver and Jordano Vivona had two hits apiece while the defense didn’t make any errors. Mundarain made the most plays with ten. Reyes led Perth with two out of eight stolen bases. Houston led Wembley with one hit in three at bats. South Perth 10, Swan Districts 9 South Perth Souths defeated Swan Districts Swans 10-9 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. It was tied at nine with South Perth batting in the bottom of the eighth when Caleb Goodwin's sac fly scored one run. South Perth earned the victory despite allowing Swan Districts to score seven runs in the second inning. The big inning was driven by singles by Ashton Hamilton, Demias Jimerson, and Maverick Hamilton, by Anthony Daniele, a groundout by Conor Parry, and a double by Brody Clarkson. Swan Districts took an early lead in the second with Hamilton’s RBI single. The Swans also scored in the sixth when Daniel Johnston grounded out, scoring one run. South Perth then answered when Cameron Landy drew a walk, scoring one run. South Perth tied things up at nine in the bottom of the seventh on a Max Wheeler single. Lucas John led things off on the hill for South Perth. John went four innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out four. Joshua Rawlinson recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for South Perth. Dillian Clarkson was on the mound for Swan Districts. The pitcher went three and a third innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and walking one. Trent Daniele, Aiden Maguire, and Boston Foot each contributed in relief for the Swans. Clarkson started the game for Swan Districts. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on 12 hits over three and a third innings, walking one. South Perth tallied 13 hits in the game. Barbarich and Keller had three hits apiece as Noah Green and Wheeler had two. South Perth stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Keller led the way with two.
