Central Firebirds 11 - Western Tigers 9 Despite giving up a seven-run lead, Central Firebirds still held off Western Tigers for an 11-9 victory on Friday. The Tigers scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Logan Truscott in the sixth, a double by Kyan Bertolini in the seventh, and a groundout by Boston Foot in the seventh. The Firebirds grabbed an early lead, scoring on a walk by Fletcher Thomas, a groundout by Jesse Hawke, a single by Daniel Johnston, a double by Caleb Johnston, and a groundout by Hugo Otobe in the second inning. The Firebirds tallied six runs in the fifth inning with RBIs from Xavier Short, Thomas, Johnston, Kaleb Bransby, and Jake Clark. The Tigers scored three runs in the seventh inning on a groundout by Foot and a double by Bertolini. Johnston got the start for the Firebirds. The righthander went one-third of an inning, allowing one run on one hit. Rowan Edmunds led things off on the hill for the Tigers, allowing one hit and four runs over one inning. Western Tigers 20 - Southern Hills Warriors 4 Western Tigers defeated Southern Hills Warriors 20-4 thanks to a strong start. The Tigers scored on a single by Rowan Edmunds, a wild pitch during Boston Foot's at bat, a walk by Brock Dennis, a single by Thomas Romeo, a walk by Xavia Aporo, and a walk by Edmunds in the first inning. Lucas Firth got the start for the Tigers. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings, striking out two. Ethan Horn started the game for the Warriors. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs on four hits and striking out three. Riley Hall and Jesse Rando entered the game in relief, throwing one inning and two-thirds of an inning respectively. The Tigers totaled eight hits in the game. Wanneroo Giants 24 - Western Comets 2 Michael Stephenson came the ballpark and meant business on Friday, driving in four on two hits to lead Wanneroo Giants past Western Comets 24-2. Stephenson drove in runs on singles in the first and second plus two walks in the third. The Giants grabbed an early lead on a base hit and a single in the first, and put up 16 runs in the third inning. Lucas Santich, Stephenson, Rhys Hards, Kristian Haeusler, Tom Hewett, and Dean Lovett each drove in runs during the inning. Santich was on the mound for Wanneroo. The righthander lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out two. William Finney was on the pitcher's mound for the Comets. The righthander went two innings, allowing 12 runs on six hits and striking out one. Jayden Hinchliffe threw one inning out of the bullpen. The game was tied at four with Wanneroo batting in the bottom of the fifth when Tom Hewett singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Giants earned the victory despite allowing Carine to score three runs in the fourth inning on a single by Harrison Harrup-Gregory. Carine got things started in the first inning when Aaron Keating singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Cats made it a four-all ballgame in the top of the fourth when Lachlan Titheradge drew a walk, scoring one run. Jack Brooks led things off on the mound for Wanneroo. Brooks allowed four hits and four runs over four innings, striking out six. William Eastman led things off on the hill for Carine. The lefthander surrendered two runs on one hit over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Titheradge and Elliott Giddens entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively. Bailey Thompson led Wanneroo with two hits in three at bats. The Giants pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning as Jack Brooks singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Giants tallied five runs in the sixth inning. Kristian Haeusler, Bailey Thompson, and Nikora Bryan all contributed with RBIs. Owen Capes was on the mound for the Giants. The pitcher went two and a third innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out three and walking zero. Xanda Huisman started the game for the Comets. They also scored six runs in the fifth inning with RBIs from Jasper Smith, Daniel Johnston, Jesse Hawke, Hugo Otobe, and Xavier Short. Otobe led the Firebirds to victory on the hill. Wanneroo took an early lead in the first inning when Riley L doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Marcus W got the start for the Phantoms. Qualifying Final 2: Sun City Thunder 18 - Central Firebirds 13 Central Firebirds lost the lead late in an 18-13 defeat to Sun City Thunder on Sunday. Sun City trailed 13-12 in the top of the fifth inning when an error scored two runs. The Firebirds lost despite out-hitting Thunder 15 to seven. Central captured the lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Lucas C. The Firebirds notched six runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Lucas D and Logan N and a triple by Chayce H. Owen M was on the mound for Sun City. The righthander went two innings, allowing ten runs on nine hits and striking out four. Alexander C was on the hill for the Firebirds, covering four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out six. Alex V, Lucas, and Oliver C each contributed in relief. The Firebirds saw the ball well with 15 hits, including multiple from Alexander, Chayce, Rocco V, Lucas, and Lucas. Chayce and Alexander all had three hits to lead the way as two players stole at least two bases. Sun City totaled seven hits with two apiece from Timothy L and Summer C.
