Baseball WA is pleased to open expressions of interest for players wishing to try out for the Under 16 and Under 18 State Teams. Although Baseball Australia has yet to finalise the host state of the U16 and U18 Australian Youth Championships to be held in January 2023 (approximately 7-15 Jan), BWA is preparing for tryouts in the coming weeks. "It is a tremendous honour to represent your state on the national stage and compete against the best players from around the country," Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. "Our WA players had the chance to compete in the Rays Showcase over the past two years in the absence of the AYCs, which we believe has expedited player development and performance. We would like to thank the key staff both on-field and off-field for delivering this program, and we encourage players to take advantage of this opportunity to represent on the WA State Team." The U16 and U18 State Teams will again be led by head coaches Kent Fitzgibbons and Leigh Moyle, respectively. After being appointed in 2021, Leigh was unable to lead the team as the national championships were cancelled due to COVID. We look forward to him and his team showcasing our best talent at the Australian Youth Championships. Fresh off a bronze medal finish at the recent U16 Youth Championship held in July, Kent will again lead the charge for this young and exciting group. Expressions of interest are now open for players who want to try out, with session dates and locations to be communicated in the coming weeks.
