The inaugural Diamond League competition continued at Empire Ballpark on Wednesday night, with the Scorpions defeating Pelicans 12-4 thanks to a big fourth inning.
It was a back-and-forth battle, with the Scorpions tying the game up at two in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Ben Warrington. Riley Edgar drew a walk in the third as the Scorpions added two more. Curtis Bacon, Mitch Forrest, Callum Hurrelbrink, and Braedan Stannard each had RBIs in the Scorpions' seven-run fourth inning. Bacon led things off on the pitcher's mound for Scorpions, throwing three innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four. Matthew Stanton was on the hill for Pelicans. The hurler surrendered four runs on five hits over two innings, striking out three and walking one. James Brunskill and Lachlan Cooper entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively. Scorpions scattered eight hits in the game.
